Pain Aid Pill Alternatives Such as Balms

October 30, 2019 Health

Muscle soreness and discomfort is arguably the worst form of pain. This is because it strikes when you least expect.

You can be having a regular day on the top of your game, and the next thing you know you’re holding onto your shoulders because there’s an excruciating sensation there. In such situations, there are several potential remedies.

These remedies don’t necessarily require any professional intervention or opinion. However, if it persists and doesn’t go away quickly, then it’s best to consult a professional. Nonetheless, muscle pain science has come a long way in the past few years. Here is one of the many solutions that they’ve presented!

Balm – What is It?

Generally speaking, pain aid pill alternatives such as a balm is a cream or ointment that is directly applied to the skin. This ointment often carries a fragrance with it, which is mostly a placebo. The main effect that this has on the skin might vary from balm to balm. Nonetheless, the general underlying principle is the same – the balm is absorbed gradually by the skin and evaporates with time.

What Does it Do?

Balms are reputed to have one of two qualities: cooling or heating. Once applied, the balm produces a sensation that can often be felt down to the last fiber of the muscle. For this reason, it is often paired with several forms of therapy and muscle rehabilitation procedures.

Athletes are often advised to use balm for optimal muscle recovery. The sensation produced stimulates blood flow into the applied region. Blood flow increases the influx of nutrients and proteins into that particular region, which aids in muscle recovery and regeneration.

Applying Techniques

The overall procedure for applying balms doesn’t require that much finesse. You start with cleaning the particular region so that there isn’t any dust or dirt residues in the specific area (this is particularly advised to athletes).

Take half a teaspoon into your finger, and then apply it gently onto the afflicted region. Once done, continue to massage the area until the waxy substance is distributed evenly and all around. For maximum effect, some therapists also recommend covering the region with a cloth for optimal muscular stimulation.

Main Components and Ingredients

Balms contain a bulk of naturally founding substances, all mixed up in the right proportion to produce the best heating and cooling effect. Different products have different ingredients, but the bulk of the properties are shared by most products.

Here are a few ingredients found in the vast majority of balms!

  • Menthol
  • Clove oil
  • Camphor
  • Cassia oil
  • Capsaicin
  • Chomthong

Are balms safe?

Yes, absolutely. Balms are arguably one of the most accessible home remedies for muscular and joint pain. This is due to the method of application. Balms are pain aid pill alternatives that you need to try.

Popular products such as Tiger Balm are often the subject of much research and scrutiny, all of which indicate that balms are safe to use and have no adverse effects on the health of an individual!
